Complete guide to German customs regulations and EU entry requirements
Germany, as an EU Schengen member, follows EU customs regulations. The German Customs (Zoll) enforces rules on goods entering from non-EU countries. Different allowances apply for EU and non-EU arrivals. ETIAS will be required for visa-exempt travelers starting 2025.
Entry Process
- 1Apply for ETIAS before travel (for visa-exempt nationals, starting 2025)
- 2Proceed to Schengen passport control if arriving from non-Schengen country
- 3Collect checked baggage
- 4Use Green Channel (nothing to declare) or Red Channel (goods to declare)
- 5Exit to arrivals area
